Variety over depth

Nowadays, looking at the yoga world outside that ashram, I see that the techniques passed down from a centuries-old tradition – simple at their core, and effective precisely because they are practiced with repetition and patience – are being watered down, rebranded, and made more palatable for a market that values variety over depth. From huge libraries of content with endless options, platforms with hundreds of teachers and different styles, to impeccably curated studios (beautiful spaces, no doubt) where (expensive!) yoga wear has become the “uniform”, and the focus has drifted far from practicing meditation in each asana and toward the performance of increasingly complex poses. This perfectly packaged, luxurious "yoga" feels very far from what I know it to be.
