Choosing your ratio

While you may occasionally manage a higher ratio for a single round, the true measure is whether you can sustain it comfortably across the entire practice. The purpose is not to prove anything.

A ratio is only useful if it allows the breath to remain calm, smooth, and relaxed. If the breath feels strained, the ratio is too high. If the mind feels pressured, the ratio is too high.

A comfortable ratio practiced consistently is far more valuable than an ambitious ratio practiced occasionally.
